• Week #1

    Let’s get down to business.

This will be my first blog post as required by my Web Business course. I don’t quite have everything worked out yet, so the website won’t be complete when first reading this. I’d like to make it better as well as create a separate website for the business. Which I am quite excited to do. Please don’t mind the flamingo, that was an additional touch for fun.

  • Week #2

    My online site.

This week in class we have been learning about two very important sites to consider for creating my website. The first is choosing which site builder to use, the second is which e-commerce sites to use. For this blog I have been using WordPress, but I don’t think I want to use it for designing my business. I have been having a bit of difficulty using WordPress to edit the main page. I’m sure there are better templates can use on a different site. The main ones I am considering are Wix.com, Square Space, and Shopify. I’m not sure I want to use Shopify because I don’t have a strong idea for selling a product or service. The one I am most considering is Wix.com because i’ve seen a lot of ads for it and it’s marketed towards people who are beginners. So I’m going to continue brain storming ideas and deciding which site is the best to create it.

    Peace Building

This week was finally time to start designing my website. I finally decided to use Wix.com, and thankfully it made a lot of good templates I could choose from. I also decide to not make my website a business, instead an advocacy group. I’m a very politically motivated person and seeing everything that is happening in the news with war and genocide has pushed me into taking action, and encouraging others to do the same. I came up with the name “Rexburg Anti-war Association.” My first step was creating a logo design. It did feel like cheating using ChatGPT, but I was desperate for some inspiration and what I was given looked great. I then decided the website in Wix and worked on getting a good domain. But I made the mistake of only paying for a domain without a plan and I was overcharged for it. The domain itself was not connecting for some reason. I brought up the issue with Brother Lundin and he told me I could use the free domain that came with the site.

  • Week #4

    The Ad Extravaganza

This week we began discussing creating a Google Ads Campaign. If i’m gonna be honest I think this will be the hardest part about this project. Using ad sense and whatever else you use to create and ads campaign is not something I’m familiar with. At the same time I still haven’t found a solution to my domain problem. I may need to consult with Brother Lundin about this. I wish i had more to write about but we had a day off so there isn’t much else I can say.

  • Week #5

    Key Words?

This week I learned about a key component about to my ads campaign, key words. From what I understand these are words or phrases people will search up that will help my ads appear on their screens. There is a list of words you should use and ones you shouldn’t use, which Brother Lundin provided for us. There is quite a large variety I could chose from for my student activist group.

  • Week #6

    Making Sense of it All

Now we have begun taking about conversion tracking and other concepts I don’t quite understand. But I am trying my best to do so. I need a google tag manager if I ever want to run a google ads campaign so I have a lot to do. I’m not gonna include too much this time because I need to focus on running my campaign. Also don’t mind the weird angle this post is on. I tried my best to fix it but to no result.

  • Week #7

    The New Ad Launch

The day has finally come. I need to go into Google Ads and get my campaign set up. Unfortunately I still have not been able to the the website to run with a proper domain. As it turns out, everyone in the class who used Wix for their website is having problems launching. So I do feel a little bit better about my issue. But at the same time not very hopeful I can get it done. Thankfully I talked to Brother Lundin. All I have to do is get it set up for the grade and not actually launch it yet. But when i do I hope to have everything set up.
